Dr. Rakesh Roy

Dr. Rakesh Roy is a young, lively and vibrant Oncologist based in Kolkata. He likes to describe himself as a "good listener with eyes to see the patient, ears to listen to woes and brains to deal with the situation". Practising evidence-based medicine, Dr. Roy specialises in treating multiple clinical and psychological issues of cancer patients, and choosing the right candidate for chemotherapy.

Dr. Rakesh Roy is currently attached to the Saroj Gupta Cancer Centre & Research Institute in Thakurpukur. He can also be consulted at Niramoy Clinic, located on Picnic Garden Road near the EM Bypass. He has experience and expertise in medical oncology, chemotherapy, palliative care and cancer pain management. He is also a clinical tutor for palliative care. 

After obtaining his post graduation in Clinical Phatmacology Dr Roy moved into the field of Oncology. His initial training at SGCCRI, Thakurpukur was mainly on Hemato-Oncology. He received the prestigious UICC Fellowship in Medical Oncology for training at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. Subsequently Dr. Roy has studied/ trained at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London (UK), Velindre Hospital Cardiff(UK), Pallium India (Trivandrum) and the Paul Carbone Cancer Centre at the University of Wisconsin (USA). Dr Roy has received several awards and fellowships.

He has been invited to participate as a panelist for "Lung Cancer" in the International UAE Cancer Congress.

He promotes Palliative Care in West Bengal and is a frequent contributor to medical journals and magazines.
